Hello, and welcome to my website. I'm Zahn Camacho, BA, CBCC-KA (Certified Behavior Consultant - Canine), CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer).
My Technique and Philosophy
My training technique is incentive-based. I don't use fear and intimidation in training because the Please-Don't-Hit-Me method doesn't work, nor is it fun, and it can cause irrepairable harm to your dog; it really only teaches dogs that people are kind of jerks.
Success is formed through partnership, not dictatorship. When our dogs trust us and can easily interpret our signals, we can achieve fantastic things together. I want your dog to achieve with enthusiasm, and achievement can be something as simple (or difficult, depending on the dog) as keeping all four feet on the floor for attention instead of jumping on you. Results from a fun game of Look-How-I-Well-I-Can-Sit! are more likely to be solid and lasting.
I won't give you guarantees or promises about what your dog will accomplish because each dog is an individual with his or her own story, and every human and household is also unique. Except for my dad, people are imperfect, and so are our dogs.
In-Home vs. Day Training
I offer both In-Home training and Day training. Here's the difference:
If you're someone who wants hands-on interaction with your dog (you don't mind dog slobber/hair/general untidiness), you want to eat/sleep/live dog, and if you have the TIME and WILL and physical ability to work with your dog, then you'll prefer in-home training. It's a commitment. It's like home-schooling kids but with dogs, and I'll teach you how to do it.
Day training is completely different. It's simply me training your dog in a series of private sessions. You can be home or not (I welcome an audience), but it doesn't matter. Training goes faster, but is more expensive. Day training is ideal if you don't have time to train daily, or if you don't want dog training to be your side-job.
***Day training is not for aggression cases.
I do take aggression cases. Please just let me know in advance so I can know what to expect. Together we'll work to find a solution to safely help your dog, home and community.
Finally, if I can't make your dog flourish, I will refer you to others whom I trust with my own dogs, but who may be less humorous or good-looking than I am. I'm happy to do so; I just want to help your dog and you.
I live on far east side.
